Jacob’s Well History

Gersan and Betty Valcin felt God’s call back in 1997 to their native Haiti after Gersan’s graduation from Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas in 1995.  For many years, they served in church planting ministries and as senior pastor of a large church in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

In 2007, Valcin’s began purchasing land in the northern part of Haiti outside the city of Limbe.  They established a Christian campground named Jacob’s Well, and have focused their ministry heavily on the village of Ti Guinea whose property adjoins Jacob’s Well.  The beginning ministry focus was on large Vacation Bible School outreaches to approximately 500 children but the scope and nature of the ministry grew rapidly.  Community development projects including sanitation and water filtration soon followed.   Valcin’s also began to mentor youth and developed a youth leadership and discipleship program.

In November, 2013 the ministry began the operation of CIEL 98.7 FM Christian radio station.  The programming focuses on Bible devotions and training, Christian praise and worship, and Haiti news and sports events.   In March, 2014 a wonderful new media ministry of  TELE CIEL Channel 10 television station aired its first television program!  This station was now able to broad Christian television programs to an audience in Haiti town and villages that had never received any television programming before at all!  The format is similar to the radio broadcasting along with special interviews and also some fun Bible contests.
